Team


Validation Capital's finance team has more than 25 years of capital markets and investing experience from firms including CIBC, BMO, and Moelis. The engineering team brings expertise in cybersecurity, network architecture, and software development from Deloitte and Rogers.



Michael is a seasoned financial and capital markets professional. He held principal portfolio management and advisory roles with a $100mm family office venture debt fund. Michael also held senior executive positions within the investment banking groups of both the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and the Bank of Montreal (BMO). In crypto, Michael was the founder and general partner of Chaintech Digital, a blockchain based digital asset fund. Currently, Michael is the CEO of Stratx Consulting, a Canadian blockchain advisory company.

Alex is an established leader in the Canadian crypto space, with over five years of experience as an investor, consultant, and financial manager. Alex began his career working in private equity where he was directly involved with the diligence and underwriting of investment opportunities primarily in the real-estate space. Alex is currently the COO of Stratx Consulting.

Andrew is a former Analyst in Deloitte’s Cyber Risk Services practice where he specialized in network and application security for large retail and financial services clients. His technical experience includes work in the telecommunications industry building core network infrastructure for video streaming applications. Andrew received a BASc in Computer Engineering with Honours from The University of Toronto, and an MBA from The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Andrew McFarlane

Chris began investing in proof of stake assets in 2017, having identified the applicability of traditional valuation techniques to assets generating a yield. Chris was an Investment Banking Analyst at Moelis & Company in Los Angeles, where he focused primarily on M&A deals in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sector. Previously he held positions at BMO Capital Markets and IVEST Consumer Partners. Chris received an Honours of Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

Christopher Cheung

Nathan brings venture capital and senior business development experience from his work at London-based blockchain fund North Block Capital, providing advisory support and investment capital to token projects. Prior, Nathan was part of the early stage team at UK tech start-up WhiteHat which raised capital from Lightspeed Ventures and Village Global. Nathan is also a mentor for Backstage Capital portfolio companies.

Alex is a Principal at Touchdown Ventures (TDV), where he focuses on early- through growth-stage B2B software investments. Prior to TDV, Alex worked on direct investments, M&A and strategy at firms including The Virgin Group and Estee Lauder Companies. His career began in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and UBS. He is also a former contributor and case reviewer for Harvard Business Publishing in areas related to VC, PE, and entrepreneurship. Alex holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at UPenn, where he played Division I Baseball, and an MBA from Columbia.

Alex Nwaka

Kevin is a seasoned financial services lawyer with over two decades of futures and swaps regulatory experience. Kevin is a partner of Delta Strategy Group, a Washington, D.C. based firm that works closely with Congress, CFTC, SEC and other regulatory agencies. Kevin also founded Jenga Advisors, a strategy firm focused on advising blockchain companies with respect to regulatory compliant token projects and secondary market listings. Over his career, Kevin has held roles with the US Senate, CFTC Division of Enforcement, UK Financial Services Authority, and a Fortune 100 law firm.
